The tide
Rise and fall
Beauty is not a state at all
Yet, here we are
Slow and true
And in the mirror
Burning bright
Are those hazel eyes
That keep my heart alight
For that one girl
Adam Mott May 2014
The love poems
They come and go
Every last one meaning more and more
With motions of to and fro
The literary babes begin to grow
Through smiles and laughs
The glass of love overfills our bath
Sounds of joy, signs of life
Our home bright and warm
The hearth burning bright
Remember these images,
Remember, from the dawn of day
To the eve bridging night,
I love you more than you know,
For you, I will carry a pulchritudinous little light
So that we may relight the hearth
On the most frigid of winter nights

Take my hand, be that light
Let us love this time
For, we will be more than alright
It is but a bit of penance we pay
In order to love with such might

I love you baby girl,
With all possible might
For her, as always

All the times I thought about this
They all flash by
And after every poor moment
Through all the grief
Nothing would feel quite as right as staying by your side
Her

There's a place that you know how to get to
It's never very far
But a simple jaunt away
A heart filled cup at the price of half a day
For her

The false starts
Were taking toll
Buying up spaces in my crowded heart
And the strangest thing was the pinging of another
Near, but far

The taste in my mouth,
The feel of the ground,
The ocean at my back,
The heart in an Adams town

The furthest heart
A million miles away
Yet here we are, at a thousand six hundred and fifty eight

You left the sweetest space with room for growth
You watered my heart and left your seeds
All in a beautiful plan to have me grow into the man I need to be

Every trial I bring to a stall
With every torn start,
The best part,
Is but a twelve hour drive for these two beating hearts
For her

If you try,
You can accomplish an endless train of commands
You took me
A simple kind of man
'Creating a dreamer without rival
All his dreams in the palm of his hand

These moonlight promises
Built to last a little while longer
If you try,
They'll turn to light

Everything you touch
Breaks a link of the chain
Ending the night
With a great burst of light

Forever is a long time
So it is with much thought and borrowed grace
That I realize what I ask you to say yes to
Say yes to

Where would I go?
At the age of 19, still bright and shiny
Living in a building by the great lake-sea
Where would you go?

Although I think now I do see
Back in time, down, down, down, fall
The very bottom was a lonely pit
I'd rather never return to at all

Back to after, much later than before
I ask you that question, the one you have been preparing for
With a kneel and a quiet smile, I beam
A reaching hand into my pocket
I aim to retrieve a small little gem, I aim to make you gleam

Sitting in today, I can only dream
Of a day far, but close
One, where we can both realize that fantastically accomplishable dream
