I am darkness.
I wear the mask of sunny mornings
But dark shadows seep around the edges.

I am storm clouds.
I masquerade as blue sky days
But the cows out in the fields lay down.

I am a somber dirge
Though my speakers play a happy song
It’s always in a minor key.

I am tomorrow.
While I can’t untangle from today
I waft the scent of yesterday.

I have oberved that when it's about to rain in farm country, most of the milk cows out in the pasture lay down. I don't know why. They won't tell me.
When your body's no longer elastic
and you think to yourself, am I past it?
but the mirror says no and your head
says let's go,
don't do anything drastic.

Bones get old and they creak
muscles you once had are weak
your mouth gets too dry, you can't speak,
and you need to go for a leak.
I think I might float out, push the boat out
and catch the evening tide, it could take me away to sea,
it could set me on an isle where there was only me,
alone,
I could be
alone,
I
would be alone...

I think I will take some friends with me
when I push out the boat and float out to sea.
Please beat just a few more years
Please postpone their tears
I won't be here to see
But, my loved ones will be
If we dared we would have to suffer
And if we lied, still the same.
                            So
      Let's suffer brightly, shall we?
