Bertha Norman Aug 2020
I took one look into those eyes and
Thought you'd never lie
I loved you before I knew you
But I never thought you'd give me the blues
Was this real love or just a ruse
You got to my heart and left a bruise
But when it beats it echoes your name
What happened to us was such a shame
But because of you I will never be the same
For you, love is just a game
Or was I the one to blame
Or was I the one at fault
Bertha Norman Aug 2020
As the light of the morning sun kisses my cheeks
Into this new world, I dare to speak
My mind wanders into the days of old
Where love and cheers were o' so bold
Where the smile of my friends will drive away the cold

The smile that is obscured by the called for veil
As we enter this far out trail
Where no man has been before
Fighting in this unreasonable war
Where the wisdom of the old cannot be called for

Yet the memories of yesterday drive our hope
As we match down this slippery *****
As we wish for yesterday to be tomorrow
For once again to hear the end of the widow's sorrow
To live our lives fully with this time we have borrowed

Behind closed doors, we are forced to stay
Through our windows, we look up and pray
For the frontline, all we can say is fight
As we hope for our dreams to once again take flight

All I can say is hold on my friend
For this war is about to end
And after this great beast is been slayed

FOR SURE TOMORROW SHALL BE YESTERDAY

— The End —
