 Jul 7 Aphrodite
Dency
It went quiet
Not because it gave up
Bt because it was saving me.

It felt too much
So it chose silence
Over shuttering.

It held the storm
Behind closed doors
So I could keep breathing.

It's not numb
Just protecting
What's still healing
It will never return
Every single day a wish sets sail
But nothing ever floats back
The constant churn of the tide
Is a clockwork peril
A nomadic timekeeper
Telling us over and over
And over again
The time has come
To look elsewhere
Inspired by Barbara R Maxwell's poem "The Ocean":

Flat Frisbees in flight
Beach blankets bundled by boys
Love letters litter
Waited by the phone
When you stopped coming around
But no calls came through
A new number you've found
So I'll quietly slip back,
into my loneliness inside
I'll take with me your memory
And a broken heart I will hide.
