Sleep has left my weary eyes,
Like a soul that softly cries,
Searching for a land so far,
Past the seas, beyond the star.

I think of where I used to play,
Long for its soil every day,
For people’s smiles I used to know,
But my homeland feels so far to go.

The sun and moon will find their way,
To meet at dawn, then fade away,
But I can only touch that land,
In dreams that slip like grains of sand.
I miss my homeland
Sunrise at 07:10
beautiful.
if I could go back to sleep
I'd wake up and watch it again.

No owl yet.

The bees are at it already
working steadfastly
they have no idea
that I'm having honey on my toast
and a cup of tea.

Yesterday evening
I watched the fire helicopters flying overhead
fires somewhere to the west
or so the builder said.

Wood still needs cutting but it's not going anywhere and so it can wait

She's at the gate
axe in hand

I suddenly wonder if the wedding band that I wear
plays music,

The day's already filling up with day
what more can I say
except
hasta luego.

~
alone and an imposter,
deep in syndrome.

she absorbs the frost of seasonal ghosts
and hopeless feelings
of death and darkness.

she only shows one side of her every time.
she calls a random number
from a bar in the middle of the night,
seeking to confess
or find solace in the voice of a stranger.

but any stranger might just happen to be
a lie detector.

still she lays bare all the duplicity
and fragmentation of self:

prescription bottles with two different names,
elaborate façades in Los Angeles
and in New York,
so complicated she creates
something she calls the lie box.

inside her purse there's a collection
of file cards. "I tell so many lies," she says.
"I have to write them down and keep them
in a box so I can keep them straight."

alone she waits for either
sweet apricity or identikit:
each a memento of her faces.

As you go out into the night, look up at the sky and remember

Look at the moon in all its glory
See how the light
shines upon the clouds
Feast upon the stars and pure beauty of the darkness

Gather peace and tranquility from the stillness

Realize we are part of something greater than ourselves
Feel the energy which is part
of everything

Remember where you come from, and what you truly are

Birthdays and gravity, the cause of it all
The older I get the more often I fall
Too old to have nice long hair
Too heavy in the middle to fly through the air

Birthdays and gravity, you are slowing me down
Old and heavy, I’m stuck to the ground
Too many candles and too much cake
Birthdays and gravity, that’s all it takes
Happy birthday to all.
