Till half asleep I bask
under cerulean skies and sunshine
in the middle of the meadow
where the gentle winds roam
counting clouds
like they were sheep
slowly drifting toward a world of dreams
while listening to the peaceful swooshing
of free winds across the soft grass
I made friends with the darkness
on the night the stars refused to shine
and the Moon hid her face from the Earth
Shadows took my hand
gifting me with lunar eyes
as a nocturnal wonderland
was unveiled before me
in all its darkened splendor
I walked the sleepy midnight pastures
under a black naked sky
a newly born creature of the night

I have your soul

inscribed upon my heart

So love

Can never tear us apart

There are times when I go quiet

Don't know what to say

Don't know what to do

At such times I am reminded of the quote

By Maurice Switzerland

"It is better to remain silent

At the risk of being thought a fool,

Than to talk and remove all doubt of it."

There have been times in my life

Where I have been selfish, cruel

Wandered my own path

Heedlessly needlessly

Burning bridges

Now I am older

Slightly wiser

I choose to gather friends

Not enemies

Think of others

Sometimes before myself

Because honestly

I have found

Altruism is good for the soul

To give of oneself for no return

Or quid pro quo

Ultimately I've found

You reap what you sow.
It's easy to say
You'd take a bullet for a friend
When no one has
A gun held up to their head
I aspire to be
Both brave and smart
To have the wit of a fox
And a thundering heart

I yearn to become
Both kind and tough
The girl who's nice
But doesn't mind being rough

I wish I were
What I aspire to be
But the path to my goal
Is one I can't see
Motivated by a summer thunderstorm.
The thunder is the click
The lightning is the flash
The storm takes a picture
For the universe's dash
Ignorance is only bliss
When you're the one the effects miss
Long after dark
In a sky full of grey
Lightning's quick mark
Turns night into day
